From bedroom recordings to a Vancouver arena

Beatrice Laus was a teenager in London with a borrowed guitar when she uploaded Coffee in 2017. Dirty Hit signed her not long after, and the decade since has been a steady climb through EPs, festival slots and three studio albums: Fake It Flowers in 2020, Beatopia in 2022 and This Is How Tomorrow Moves in 2024. Each one pushed her further from the lo-fi tag she started with and closer to the widescreen alternative rock she grew up on.

The Powerlines Tour is the point where that climb becomes literal. October 28 puts her on an arena stage in downtown Vancouver, in a room built for roughly 19,000 people. For an artist whose earliest recordings were made in a bedroom, it is a considerable jump in scale, and the setlist she is carrying is built for it.

What Pylon sounds like

Released September 18, 2026, Pylon takes its name from the electricity towers Laus watched slide past bus windows on tour, a running visual reminder of the lines connecting her to friends and family at home. Musically it is her sharpest and heaviest record: more distortion, more weight, less of the soft-focus haze that defined her early work. The opening track and lead single, Sun Has Set, sets that tone immediately.

The guest list reads like a map of the guitar music Laus came up admiring. Hayley Williams appears on Nothing to Prove, Turnstile's Brendan Yates sings on the title track Powerlines, and contributions come from Pinegrove's Evan Stephens Hall, Deftones' Chino Moreno and Title Fight's Shane Moran. Write Me A Letter carries production from Matty Healy and George Daniel of The 1975, longtime labelmates and collaborators.

Where Vancouver sits on the tour

The Powerlines Tour opened October 1 in Uncasville, Connecticut, and runs through North American arenas including Madison Square Garden in New York and Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Vancouver lands near the end of that leg, one night before the North American run closes October 29 in Seattle. From there the tour crosses to the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and continental Europe, wrapping December 7 in Düsseldorf. Shows this late in a leg tend to be the ones where the band has stopped rehearsing and started playing, which is a decent argument for the Vancouver date over most of the ones before it.

More fall shows at Rogers Arena and across the city are listed on the Scene in the Dark concert calendar.
