An eighth album, and a stage show built from scratch

Distance in Static is the first full Bonobo record since 2022's Fragments, and it was assembled the long way around. Green tracked it across sessions in Los Angeles, Tokyo and London, with a large share of the work completed at Neil Young's Broken Arrow Ranch in northern California. The guest list is unusually wide even by his standards: Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis and Aanya Martin all appear, and the lyrics move between English, Urdu and Japanese. "Me and You" was the first piece of it made public.

The touring half of the project matters just as much. Green has commissioned an entirely new Bonobo live show from Pierre Claude, the designer behind productions for Air, Gesaffelstein, Phoenix and Caroline Polachek. That is a meaningful signal for anyone who saw the Fragments shows: this is not the same rig with a fresh playlist, but a ground-up rebuild timed to the record.

The routing opens November 5 at Emo's in Austin and closes December 5 at Brooklyn Paramount in New York, taking in Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago and Boston along the way. Only three Canadian dates were announced: Vancouver on November 16, Toronto's History on November 26 and Montreal's MTELUS on November 27. If you live west of Ontario, the PNE Forum is the show.

Vancouver has a habit of getting Bonobo in rooms that suit him. He filled the Commodore Ballroom in 2013 on the The North Borders run, and he last played the PNE Forum in March 2022, a barn of a space that gives a production like this the ceiling height and sightlines it needs. Hastings Park is not a subtle room, but it has repeatedly worked for artists whose sets are built around lighting and low end, and Claude's design should have room to breathe there.

Frequently asked questions

When does Bonobo play Vancouver?
Monday, November 16, 2026 at the PNE Forum in Hastings Park. Tickets are on sale through Live Nation.

Is this the only Bonobo show in Western Canada?
Yes. The announced Canadian dates on the Distance in Static Live North American Tour are Vancouver on November 16, Toronto on November 26 and Montreal on November 27.

Is the new Bonobo album out yet?
Not quite. Distance in Static arrives September 11, 2026 on Ninja Tune, roughly two months before the Vancouver date, so the material should be well settled by the time the tour reaches the PNE Forum.
