From the '90s to a comeback
Dogstar formed in Los Angeles in the mid-1990s, when Reeves and Mailhouse turned a shared love of playing into a working band. They released two albums that decade, toured widely and then went quiet for more than two decades while Reeves's film career took off. The group reunited at the end of the 2010s and returned in 2023 with Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, their first new record since 2000's Happy Ending.
All In Now, released in May 2026 on Dillon Street Records, keeps that momentum going. It was produced by Nick Launay, whose credits include Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, IDLES and Amyl and the Sniffers, and it gives the band a fuller, more muscular sound than their earlier work. The North American tour behind it opened its main run in Austin in August 2026 before heading west toward the coast.
A rock show, not a movie set
The novelty of a Hollywood name on bass is part of the draw, but Dogstar play as a real band, with Domrose handling most of the singing and songwriting and Reeves holding down the low end. British Columbia has long been a home base for the film industry that made Reeves famous, and the intimate Vogue Theatre, one of the more storied rooms on Granville Street, is a fitting place to see him in a very different role.
