A bigger room, and a bigger record behind it
The September 23 date was not always a Vogue Theatre show. Promoter Timbre Concerts moved the Vancouver stop up to the larger Granville Street room after demand outgrew the original booking, and in the process converted it from a bar-age night into an all ages event with a 19+ bar. Tickets bought before the move remain valid, and anyone who wants out has a 30-day refund window at their original point of purchase. It is a small piece of logistics that says something larger about where Barrington Hendricks sits in 2026: an artist who spent years as the internet's favourite abrasive outsider is now reliably outselling the rooms his tours are routed into.
The tour supports EXPERIMENTAL RAP, JPEGMAFIA's sixth studio album, released May 21, 2026 through AWAL. It runs 25 tracks, all of them self-produced, and arrived after an April 29 announcement and the lead single "babygirl," which landed the following day with a video. Critical response has been more divided than for its predecessor: reviewers have largely praised the production, a dense collage of chopped samples and synth work, while questioning whether the writing pushes as far as the title promises. That split has done nothing to slow ticket sales, which is a familiar pattern for a catalogue that has always played louder and stranger in a room than it does on headphones.
The run also caps an unusually busy stretch. Since I Lay Down My Life for You in 2024, JPEGMAFIA has issued a director's cut of that album, released the collaborative EP We Live in a Society with Flume, put out a director's cut of the Danny Brown team-up Scaring the Hoes, produced for Maxo Kream and Denzel Curry, and spent the summer of 2025 opening arenas for Linkin Park on the From Zero World Tour. That arena stint matters here. Peggy's live show has historically been a laptop, a mic and an enormous amount of physical commitment, and a year of playing to 20,000 people a night tends to leave a mark on how a set is paced.
Vancouver has watched the climb up close. Scene in the Dark last photographed JPEGMAFIA at Fortune Sound Club in October 2019, a Chinatown club night in front of a few hundred people. Seven years later the same artist is filling a former vaudeville house more than twice that size. The support billing is worth arriving early for too: redveil, the Maryland rapper and producer who broke out with learn 2 swim, and matt proxy, whose glitch-leaning production sits comfortably next to the headliner's.
