From a Limerick engineering class to the Commodore

Kingfishr formed in Limerick in 2022, when Eddie Keogh (lead vocals, guitar and harmonica), Eoghan "McGoo" McGrath (banjo, guitar and backing vocals) and Eoin "Fitz" Fitzgibbon (guitar and backing vocals) met while studying engineering. Signed to B-Unique Records, the trio built its sound on close three-part harmonies, rolling banjo lines and the kind of singalong choruses that carry from a pub session to a festival field. The group moved quickly from acoustic EPs and live recordings to major stages, with recent festival stops including Lollapalooza and a 2026 booking at Belgium's Rock Werchter.

The commercial breakthrough was "Killeagh," which reached number one on the Irish Singles Chart in May 2025 and had already been certified four-times platinum in Ireland by the time it got there. That momentum rolled straight into the band's debut studio album, Halcyon, released in August 2025. The record reached number one in Ireland and the top ten in the United Kingdom, spinning off charting singles such as "Man on the Moon," "Diamonds & Roses" and "Next to Me." For a band that was posting acoustic sessions online only a couple of years earlier, it has been a fast climb.

Which brings us back to that headline. Long before this run was booked, Kingfishr released a track titled "Vancouver," so the Commodore dates land as a neat bit of full-circle symbolism for anyone who has followed the catalogue. The Commodore Ballroom, with its famous sprung dance floor and roughly 1,000-person capacity, is a natural room for a folk act that trades on communal, sing-it-back energy, and booking two nights rather than one is a clear sign of how quickly local demand has grown. Fellow Irish songwriter Tadhg Nolan opens both evenings.
