An album about the internet, played in a room built for dancing

Ninajirachi is Nina Wilson, an Australian producer and DJ who has spent most of the last decade turning a bedroom setup into one of the more distinctive voices in dance music. She has described her sound as "girl EDM," a half-joke that turns out to be a useful label: hyperactive, high-gloss electronic music that keeps a pop songwriter's instinct for melody and a diarist's instinct for detail. After years of EPs and singles, I Love My Computer arrived in August 2025 as her first full-length statement.

The record is loosely autobiographical, built around growing up online in the early 2010s and the strange intimacy of a machine that is both a creative tool and a social life. It landed well beyond the club circuit. I Love My Computer won Best Independent Release at the 2025 ARIA Awards and turned up on year-end lists including Exclaim!'s 50 Best Albums of 2025. It also did the thing debut albums are supposed to do and rarely manage, which is to move an artist from festival undercard to headline rooms.

2026 has been the year that shift became obvious. Ninajirachi played both weekends of Coachella, ran a UK and Europe tour in March behind the album, and now brings the show to North America. The Commodore is a good fit for what she does: a 1,000-capacity sprung dance floor is a more forgiving home for detail-heavy electronic production than an arena, and it rewards a set built on transitions rather than drops.

For Vancouver, the interesting part is the position on the calendar. Opening night is where a touring production gets its first real test in front of an audience, and this run gets two of them here before it heads to Denver, Columbus, Boston, Philadelphia, Brooklyn and Los Angeles. Vancouver is also the only Canadian city on the itinerary, which makes the Commodore dates the entire Canadian leg. Support comes from MGNA CRRRTA on both nights. You can see what else is coming up on the Scene in the Dark concert calendar.
