A decade between records

Merrill Nisker has been Peaches since the late 1990s, and for most of that time the Toronto-born, Berlin-based performer has been the reference point everyone else in electroclash gets measured against. The Teaches of Peaches, released in 2000, turned a drum machine and a handful of unprintable one-liners into one of the most influential records of its decade. Then, after 2015's Rub, she stopped making albums. Eleven years passed. She toured anniversary shows, she collaborated, she made a documentary, but there was no new full-length.

No Lube So Rude ended that on February 20, 2026, the same day the tour behind it opened in Miami. Announced in October 2025 alongside lead single "Not In Your Mouth None Of Your Business," the record is a deliberately political one: Peaches has framed it as a record about turning friction "into pleasure, into power, into pride," and about refusing to be quieted. Reviews have largely agreed that it is her most focused work since Teaches, with a fuller production palette than the deliberately skeletal records that made her name.

The first North American run was a 27-date spring itinerary that wrapped in New Orleans on March 29. In June, Peaches added a short fall leg, and Vancouver landed on it: Calgary's MacEwan Hall on September 1, Edmonton's Midway Music Hall on September 2, then the Commodore on September 4 before she crosses the border for Bumbershoot in Seattle the following night. A Toronto date at the Concert Hall closes out the Canadian portion on September 26. She has also partnered with PLUS1 so that a dollar from every ticket sold supports the Trans Justice Funding Project.

What to expect at the Commodore

Peaches shows have never been ordinary rock-club affairs. The staging leans on costume, choreography and props built to be seen rather than merely heard, and the Commodore's sprung dance floor and low stage put roughly 1,000 people close enough for all of it to register. Our own archive photos of her go back to the W2 Utopia Festival in March 2011, a very different sort of Vancouver booking, which makes a proper headline club show behind a brand new record overdue.
