A tour that took the long way to Hastings Park
This date has been a while coming. Sabaton originally plotted the North American leg of Legends On Tour for February through April 2026, then pulled the plug and rebuilt it from scratch. In March the band confirmed a rescheduled routing running from late September into mid December across roughly 30 cities in the United States and Canada, with existing ticket holders offered either a seat at the new date or a refund. A handful of American markets fell off the map in the shuffle. Vancouver did not.
What Vancouver got instead is a good slot. The Canadian run opens in Halifax on September 23 and works west through Laval, Ottawa, Toronto, Thunder Bay, two nights in Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary before finishing at the PNE Forum on October 8. After that the tour goes quiet for most of October and resumes in Dallas on November 6. Winnipeg's first night has already sold out, which is a reasonable signal for how the western dates are moving.
Why Legends is a different kind of Sabaton record
Sabaton have spent the better part of a decade mining the First World War. Two full albums, a mountain of singles and an entire YouTube history series were built on it. Legends, the band's eleventh studio album, released on October 17, 2025 via Better Noise Music, deliberately walks away from the trenches. Its eleven tracks reach across the wider sweep of history instead, taking on figures including Joan of Arc, Napoleon, Julius Caesar and the Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. Vocalist Joakim Brodén has framed the shift as a matter of vocabulary as much as subject: after years of writing about mud, machine guns and gas, the band wanted a lyrical palette that let them say something new.
Musically the formula is intact, and that is not a complaint. Sabaton have been refining the same thing since forming in Falun, Sweden in 1999: a chorus built to be shouted by several thousand people at once, keyboards doing the work an orchestra would do in a film score, and a live show that treats the stage as a set piece rather than a riser. It is arena-scale writing, which is part of why the PNE Forum works as a room for it. The Forum is a flat-floor hall rather than a bowl, so the crowd is on one level and close to the front, and Sabaton's material is designed for exactly that kind of mass participation.
The undercard is well matched. Pop Evil have been a fixture of North American active rock radio for well over a decade and know how to warm a room that is waiting for something louder. Wings of Steel, a younger act working a classic hard rock template, open. Both play to the same instinct that makes a Sabaton show work: big, unembarrassed hooks delivered without irony.
