A voice that outgrew the internet
Jaten Dimsdale spent years as a working musician in Georgia before the Teddy Swims project turned him into an arena headliner. The early audience came from YouTube, where he built a following posting covers that leaned on the same thing every reviewer eventually fixates on: a huge, gospel-inflected soul voice attached to a heavily tattooed frontman who does not look like the person you expect that sound to come out of. The gap between expectation and delivery has been part of the appeal from the start.
The commercial breakthrough arrived with I've Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1) in September 2023 and the single Lose Control, which turned into one of the most durable radio and streaming records of the following two years. Part 2 followed in January 2025, and a 32-track Complete Edition collecting both halves plus six new songs arrived in June 2025, closing out the debut album cycle.
The UGLY Tour opens a new chapter. Swims released the single Mr. Know It All in April 2026, a deceptively light song about romantic self-sabotage, and announced the fall arena run days later. What the tour name points toward has not been fully spelled out, which is its own kind of tease: audiences arriving in November will likely be among the first Canadian crowds to hear where this era is headed.
For Vancouver, the November 6 date is a well-placed one. It lands the night after Seattle's Climate Pledge Arena and closes the Canadian portion of the itinerary, so this is the last chance to catch the tour north of the border before it runs down the West Coast and ends in Los Angeles. Rogers Arena has spent 2026 hosting an unusually deep slate of touring headliners, and a full-voiced soul singer in a hockey barn is a fair test of the room. Swims has generally been well served by big spaces, where the band and the horn-forward arrangements have room to open up.
