Zachary Rapp-Rovan (Hooks) and Dylan Mamid (DC) came up through Toronto's underground in 2009, throwing weekly Bassmentality nights and posting their first tracks to MySpace. Their sound has since wandered well beyond it, pulling in house, hip-hop, drum and bass and downtempo, and they built their audience the slow way: relentless touring and their own label, Deadbeats, which marks its 10th anniversary this year.

The tour takes its name from "Journey of a Lifetime," one of the first tracks the pair ever uploaded, and the show is built as a run through the whole catalogue, from those early releases up to last year's Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness. The duo have pitched it as a milestone rather than a victory lap. "It will be the grand finale of everything we've been working on... the end of the beginning," they said when the dates were announced in March.

The run opened with two nights at Red Rocks for their annual Deadrocks in July and takes in amphitheatres and big outdoor rooms in cities including Montreal, Toronto, New York, Nashville, Miami, Austin and Dallas, before wrapping with two nights at Los Angeles' Grand Park in early October. Vancouver has a deep bass-music scene, and Freedom Mobile Arch's open-air bowl on the Hastings Park grounds suits a production of this size. As on every date of the tour, $1 from each ticket goes through PLUS1 to organizations expanding access to music education.
